Key Volunteer Roles
Successful teams rely on a group of volunteers working together throughout the season. Clearly assigning responsibilities early helps reduce confusion and keeps operations running smoothly.
- Team Manager: Oversees communication, logistics, scheduling, and team administration
- Head Coach: Leads practices, games, and overall player development
- Assistant Coaches: Support drills, bench management, and player engagement
- HCSP / Safety Person: Manages safety procedures, injuries, and first aid documentation
- Jersey Parents: Coordinates jersey storage, distribution, and laundry rotation
- Treasurer: Tracks team finances, expenses, and fundraising funds
- Social / Fundraising Coordinator: Organizes team events and fundraising activities
- Timekeepers & Scorekeepers: Operates the clock and scoresheets during home games
Tips for Coordinating Volunteers
Clear organization and communication help create a positive volunteer experience for families throughout the season.
- Assign volunteer roles early and explain expectations clearly
- Use TeamSnap or shared spreadsheets to organize assignments and schedules
- Rotate smaller duties such as clock, scoresheet, or penalty box responsibilities
- Communicate schedules and reminders well in advance
- Recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions throughout the season

The Manager Liaison is available to support team managers throughout the season with questions, troubleshooting, policy clarification, and general team operations.

North SEERA relies on volunteers to help keep fees affordable and create a positive experience for players and families throughout the season.
Each family is required to complete volunteer responsibilities during the season. A $250 volunteer commitment deposit is collected during registration and returned once obligations are fulfilled.
Volunteer Point System
Families are required to earn 2 volunteer points per registered player. Team Managers track volunteer commitments throughout the season.

- Team Manager — 2 points
- Assistant Coach — 1 point
- Treasurer — 1 point
- Social Organizer — 1 point
- Fundraiser — 1 point
- Timekeeper — 1 point
- Jersey Parent — 1 point
- Minor Hockey Week Volunteer — 1 point
- Parent Liaison — 1 point
- Bingo Volunteer — 1 point
